Is the Recruiting Industry Rebounding?

Even in this dismal job creation marketplace, there are pockets of improvement for recruiters and others dependent on hiring companies..

With predictions about the timing of a recruiting-industry rebound so wildly divergent, BountyJobs' chief executive officer, Mike Hard, prefers to steer clear of further speculation/

He focuses on data instead and postulates that data gathered from transactions in BountyJobs' global recruiting marketplace show "pockets of improvement" in key sectors, job categories and geographic regions.

"Without question, the recession has taken a toll on contingency recruiting, and the picture isn't all rosy," says Hard.

But Hard says several of the trends he studies give him every reason to believe that opportunities for outstanding third-party recruiters and headhunters have already begun to arrive - and that they'll endure.

In the article, "Data Show Pockets of Improvement for Recruiting," Hard indicates that hiring took an overall uptick beginning in March of this year, with the strongest growth in:

  • Manufacturing - BountyJobs saw 58% growth in manufacturing jobs during the three months of March through May, with strength in surprising areas.
  • Pharmacy - The number of open pharmacy positions nearly tripled during this period, which is an important signal for profitable growth in the healthcare sector in general.
  • Sales and marketing - Jobs in this sector, one of the hottest in the U.S., jumped 55% in the three months. One out of every five jobs posted was in sales and marketing.
